To a child love is spelled T-I-M-E

An old man opened his journal and his eyes fell upon an inscription that stood out because it was so brief in comparison to other days. In his own neat handwriting were the words:

Wasted the whole day fishing with my son. Didn’t catch a thing.

With a deep sigh and a shaking hand, he took his sons journal and found the boy’s entry for the same day, June 4. Large scrawling letters, pressed deeply into the paper, read:

Went fishing with my dad. Best day of my life.

No more crib

Last night was Keenan’s first night out of his crib. It was also the first night in over 2 weeks that he hasn’t been up several times during the night crying. We decided to take down the walls after noticing several markers like telling us he was ready to go ‘night night’ and laying down on his own. Added benefit… he slept in an hour later and didn’t cry this morning. We are also going to let him determine if he wants to take a day nap by leaving him gated in his room during his normal naptime. We’ll see how that goes today.

PeePee

Keenan is on the potty training wagon now. A couple days ago(Sunday) he said “peepee”, ran to his bathroom door, pulled down his pants, starting knocking on the door. I helped him out from there but he stood on his stool and pretty much knew what to do(lead by example). Since then he has done this about half-a-dozen times. We are very excited !

We are taking this lightly though. We have no expectations with him right now. He is having fun with it and wants to do it so we are helping him. We decided not to go the schedule route since statistically that has bad results. As it turns out we didn’t have to do anything at all, he told us when he was ready.
